The Alexander Peters Memorial Fund, Inc

On August 9, 2008, Alexander Peters died in an auto accident. Alex was 21 years old and a victim of under aged drunk driving. The Alexander Peters Memorial Fund, Inc (a registered 501(c)(3) charity) was established to make young people aware of the devastating consequences of drunk driving and to support local organizations that champion this and other youth causes.
The following statistics are from Mothers Against Drunk Driving MADD
If you knew Alex, there are a few things you knew about him. First, he loved to laugh and he loved to make people laugh. Second, although he was known to give a good “razzing”, he was always a fan of the underdog. And third, he loved to play sports. In honor of Alex’s memory we combined all of these characteristics into an event where everyone can come together for a day; to laugh, to play sports, and give anyone (even the over 40 men’s team) a chance to be number one. Even if you didn’t know Alex we still encourage you to come down to the Lynnfield High School on June 23rd for the day and support a good cause. The money we raise during the one pitch softball tournament provides scholarships to Lynnfield High student-athletes and the rest is donated to local charities, such as M.A.D.D, Haven from Hunger, EMARC and others. Of course donations are always appreciated, but that’s not what it is all about. Come down and watch the games (or play), get some free food, and enter the raffle to win some awesome prizes including Patriots, Red Sox tickets and maybe even a spa treatment. We have a DJ, games and a moon bounce for the kids and other entertainment. Most importantly come down and support a good cause - and find out a little more about Alex’s life, a life that will never be forgotten.
Congratulations to 2011 Alexander Peters Memorial scholarship winners Kelsey Mancini and Connor Dario. Good luck this fall!
